Sharmishtha is from Agra, U.P. Sharmishtha did her B.Com. from Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra, and her Masters in Education from Azim Premji University, Bangaluru.
During her graduation days, Sharmishtha worked with a local NGO for the education of children of migrant laborers and was also a part of Feeding India, Agra Chapter. After graduation, Sharmishtha joined the India Fellow Social Leadership Program and was placed in the tribal region of Udaipur, Rajasthan. There she worked with upper primary students in a government school on improving their basic numeracy and literacy levels.
Sharmishtha has a particular interest in Environmental Studies, early childhood education, value education, and unconventional educational setups. Pokhrama Foundation, therefore, is the perfect fit for her.
